Renée - Western Australia
You have managed to capture the soul of the possum and what is more the love between mum and bub is incredible, it really did leave me speechless. You showed the gentle side that possums have and the capacity they have to love. I still cannot look at it without my eyes misting up.

Sophia - Black Flying Fox
This painting was inspired during my visit to a couple of dedicated wildlife carers, Dominique and John in North Queensland, who were at the time inundated with Flying Fox orphans. I was enthralled by the antics of the babies after being fed as they stretched and cavorted on their exercise bars. I thought they were such beautiful creatures and wanted that to shine through in this work. Little Sophia was orphaned at a few weeks old, after her mother flew into barbed wire and her wings too badly torn for recovery. Flying foxes are very affectionate animals and form strong bonds with their carers.
